Geoloqi is a fairly new location based app. It is comparable to layer, but in a more down-to-earth manner. The main difference is that Layar uses augmented reality to show you what you can do, and where the destination is. Geoloqi uses a map and add some very nice extra features.

The app allows for geo-based notifications. To give you an example, you could make a grocery list and link it to the location of the grocery store. The App will send you a notification once you’re at the store, pushing you the list you made earlier. Now that’s one handy feature. And it doesn’t stop here. At SXSW they announced a new layer for the app, which again does something amazing. Based on your location, it’ll search wikipedia fir an article about the place you’re at and, if so, it’ll push you this information. It is basically a free travel guide, based on crowd-knowledge.

Possible future applications are things like:

Automatic Foursquare check-in’s in your favourite locations.
Notifications on nearby events that interest you.

We sure hope people pick up their API and start developing layers.
